The Catalan Tourist Board (CTB) is an agency belonging to the Government of Catalonia in charge of promoting the Catalan tourist industry abroad. The CTB conducts marketing and promotional activities from both its headquarters in Barcelona and its network of 12 tourist promotion offices around the world.

Job description

The team located in Japan, South Korea and Singapore, in coordination with the headquarters in Barcelona, develops the marketing plan and carries out the main marketing and promotional actions for the destination.

 

APAC team covers the following markets: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.

 

Main functions and responsibilities: 

  • To develop, with the assistance of the APAC Director and his team, professional relationships across South Korea mainly, but also the rest of Asia–Pacific tourism sector, media and general public.
  • To assist in the preparation, execution, monitoring and closing of annual action plans for South Korean outbound tourism markets: trade fairs, in fam-trips, press–trips and workshops, creation and development of communication & social media campaigns.
  • To create destination & product presentations and to generate market intelligence.
  • To provide advice to the Catalan Trade in their market penetration and to guide them across the market.
  • To assume back-office and logistical office tasks: database management, administrative tasks & travel arrangements.
  • To manage contractors, to support and supervise potential interns in the region.
  • To translate materials from English/Spanish/Catalan into Korean and vice versa.

 

In conjunction with the rest of the team, the Marketing Executive will:

  • Assist in the coordination of other Catalan Government Offices in the Asia–Pacific area and other third partners in the promotion of Catalonia as a quality tourist destination by attending meetings, drafting, negotiating and setting up final joint plans or framework contracts.
  • Assist in the elaboration of the Asia–Pacific strategy and annual action plans in order to improve Catalonia’s image and positioning as a quality tourist destination.
  • Collaborate in the elaboration of market research and the development of market intelligence.
  • Attend to external requests for promotional / information material.
  • Collect and evaluate on a regular basis, or as a result of internal requests, information from tourist operator / travel agencies catalogues, news reports and other media to create press/news clippings books
  • Attend local events with the Director and at times represent the Director if necessary.
  • Coordinate with Barcelona HQ teams in technical aspects related to the market of responsibility.
  • Manage payments, invoices and accountant tasks related to the projects.
  • Use extensively the corporate CRM/ERP system to manage customers and projects.

Requirements

Education: Higher education degree in Tourism, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, business, international trade, or any other university degree.

 

Languages: Native Korean, fluent English and Catalan/Spanish
